Job Description:
Overview:
As a Lead Adult Care Worker Apprentice, you will be responsible for providing personal care to adults with a variety of needs (such as elderly people, those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, or mental health conditions). You will also be required to supervise and mentor junior staff, promote the well-being of individuals, and contribute to a positive and supportive environment. This apprenticeship will help you develop the skills required for leadership in adult care settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing Care:
- Delivering high-quality care in accordance with individual care plans.
- Supporting individuals with daily tasks, such as personal care, medication administration, and mobility assistance.
- Promoting independence and dignity for individuals, encouraging them to engage in social, educational, and recreational activities.
- Supervising and Mentoring Staff:
- Overseeing and supporting junior care workers, ensuring they are delivering care in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Providing guidance and support to new or less experienced staff, helping them to develop their skills.
- Ensuring that the care team is motivated and working collaboratively to meet the needs of service users.
- Assessment and Planning:
- Working with other health and social care professionals to assess individuals’ needs and review care plans.
- Supporting the creation and updating of care plans to ensure they reflect the current needs of the service users.
- Recording and reporting any changes in health or behavior to the relevant parties.
- Health and Safety:
- Ensuring that the care environment is safe and that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
- Administering medication and monitoring health conditions, adhering to safe practices and guidelines.
- Ensuring that appropriate safeguarding measures are in place and acting upon any concerns related to abuse or neglect.
- Supporting Emotional and Social Well-Being:
- Offering emotional support to service users and helping them cope with changes in their circumstances.
- Encouraging individuals to participate in social activities and maintaining relationships with family and friends.
- Promoting the mental and emotional well-being of service users by recognizing signs of distress or mental health concerns.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, such as care logs, medication administration records, and incident reports.
- Ensuring that data is stored securely and is compliant with data protection regulations.
- Attending meetings, case reviews, and training sessions as required.
- Learning and Development:
- Completing the Level 3 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship through practical training, classroom-based learning, and assessments.
- Keeping up to date with current legislation, care standards, and best practices in the adult care sector.
- Taking responsibility for continuous personal development and seeking out learning opportunities.
- This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate.
